Feb 1963 - Bose on thin ice... for the first time!

Wigan's new Fijian stand-off, 23-year-old Kia Bose, takes his first steps on Central Park... but has to walk cautiously on the ice; which he was sampling for the first time in his life. And he is wearing a borrowed overcoat to keep out the cold. Bose landed at London and Manchester Airports last night in sub-zero temperatures and wondered why English cars seemed to have white roofs. He just hadn't seen before the effects of night frost on cars!

He said: "It was starting to get cold in Fiji when I left yesterday - the temperature was dropping down towards the 90's from 105 degrees."
