Found the site most interesting, especially the old photographs of Dower House Farm. I work in Dower Street Platt Bridge and remember the old building well. I often wondered what it was like inside, now I know. Thought the comments from Ethan about Hindley Green a little uncalled for!!!! Keep up the good work, look forward to revisiting in the not too distant future.

Reading Orwell's classic "Road to Wigan Pier." With the understanding that it is a tale of a time well past, it remains an important place in journalistic and social criticism.
Thank you for the visit.

Magical Site, makes me wish I could come "Home"
I have a plea for anybody who knew Sheila Thomas of Osborne Rd Ashton in the 60's or even better, now. I believe she was once a Post Lady and had lovely long very Red hair. In the 60's we were engaged and I've NEVER forgotten her. And would love to know that she is well and happy. If you can help, please E-Mail me Thanks
Also researching my family and am trying to find details on my late Father's Dad who, I now know was Wigan's first ever Window Cleaner !! Can anyone help ?

The people of Lowton and Golborne may have a Warrington post code but I can assure you we pay our rates to WIGAN but do not appear to be worthy of a mention on this site

Response: eh? Golborne is listed and mentioned extensively. Also, a link exists for your "name" www.lowton.gq.nu - click links, scroll down a bit, the site is there!
