What a great site,Spent ages here.looking for Rigbys who lived here and later moved on to Leeds North Yorkshire

Very useful material for the Cub Scout Pack that I help to run. The pictures and information for Wigan are brilliant, I never knew about the Harrogate Street well although I worked there for a decade.

Brilliant site, spend hours looking on it. keep up the good work.

Wonderful website. I came acroos it while searching for info on Frank Randel the famous Lancashire comedian. Frank accidentally knocked me down when I was 8 years old while I was walking along the Golden Mile at Blackpool.
Has anyone else met Frank ?

Nice site anyway, Spent ages on it allready, Hey Joe from Gwent ! I thought Bickershaw PIT was in PLANK LANE ? It was 45years ago,is there still a swing bridge over the Cutt ??

Just starting a family search and given this sight to look up. I am coming to UK later this year and trying to get more info. This site looks really interesting.

love reading anything to do with wigan of old.My mum lived in queen st as a girl talked about a pub at the top of the street would anyone know about this from elderly relatives

my father , henry jolley was brought up at no. 10 albert street , ince wigan , he was born on 11/4/1890 , he had 4 sister's ;;; bertha;; bessie;;dorothy and one brother bill , bill i think emergrated to new south wales about 1930 ish , my dad's mother's maiden name was prescott, thanking you

p.s: do your high street have an array of regular names ? what's that ? - by the way I got family in Angers. It's a great town as well.

Wonderful site, I have spent a happy hour just looking at all the wonderful pictures of Wigan, haven't been there since the late 1950's. My parents and grandparents were from Ince, my mothers name was Belshaw, my fathers Armstrong, always hoping someone will be in touch. Hope you keep the site going, it's really wonderful, Thanks.

I am searching for my late husbands ancestors who came from your area of Billinge/Upholland: Swift/Townshend/Cliff,it seems that most were farmers, I would like to find out when they moved to Essex, I have just found so many names in your 1869/81 Directory, now to try & find out if they are part of the family tree I'm doing, many thanks for such a great site
