fantastic site was wondering if anyone had photos of gidlow girls school before it became a middle school anything to do with gidlow i remember a video being shot one easter when we had a comp with easter eggs wonder if it is still around.

My mother was born in Wigan England. I still have family in England. I have been looking for places, parks, schools, pubs etc where my mother has been. This is a awesome website.

the moment. Started looking into family history and found the site, it's brilliant,and informative, have already passed the news on to family and friends

im a wigan lass studying in the us and love finding goss and stuff about home. this was a great site for me cheered me up. i know wigan isnt the best place in the world but its home.

My grandfather, William Smethurst, orginated from Hindley, Wigan. He stayed at 16 Liverpool Road. I've visited both Hindley and Wigan a few times, and would have to say that I've always found the people to be very pleasant and friendly.

Very useful material for the Cub Scout Pack that I help to run. The pictures and information for Wigan are brilliant, I never knew about the Harrogate Street well although I worked there for a decade.

Wonderful website. I came acroos it while searching for info on Frank Randel the famous Lancashire comedian. Frank accidentally knocked me down when I was 8 years old while I was walking along the Golden Mile at Blackpool.
Has anyone else met Frank ?
