Love this sight,found it by chance.My mum was a Wiganer and its always been special to me.The family name was Bibby and they lived at 37 Swanmeadow road.they bought the house when it was built.Does anyone out there remember them.
Mums name was Hilda.

Really interesting site, in the old pubs I've noticed you don't have the Boatmans Arms which was a pub on the canal in Abbedene. This was my Grandfathers local as a young man, he and his family had a transport company James Monk & Sons on the canal.

Fantastic site.I left Wigan 23 years ago,And still miss my family,friends.and Wigan.

In the USA since 1965 after trining as a Midwife in Wigan Liverpool and Billinge, now with a grown family and working full time still . I manage to visit twice a year with my Auntie in Whelley, '' FELL across this site and loved it. I'm hoping there is a way to contact old frieds and collegues.

fabulous site,was logged in for hours!! This a long shot to any wigan historians please. my ancestors were called Jolley and after many many painstakingly LONG months have discovered that they lived on Moss lane hindley wigan.And thanks to this site, that john jolley lived at 69 dixon st in 1925. Is there anyone who can give me info on what happened to him after this?
