I was mesmerised by the articles from 1860, Iwas hoping to find some information about my family, who I believe resided at 691 Ormskirk Road eighty or ninety years ago, Particularly my grandad Gerrard Clough Smith.

My friend in England sent me some websites. I am absoloutely thrilled with what I found in pictures, however, they were much more recent.
I have a photograph of a group of boys and girls with teacher: one little girl holding the sign "Wesylean Infant School Ashton." The picture must be 100 years old if not older.
My grandfr., Charles KING born 1847/8 don't know the month,have May, June and July documented on different census.
He was from London.Don't know his parents names.
I think he is in the picture when compaired to my young brother's picture.
The website is encouraging. Hope someone can tell me where Ashton is located county wise, in England.

im trying to trace a old pal from poolstock.is name is peter marrow.he used to work in the building trade .last time i saw him .he was working at rathbones bakery in aspull.i know he used to drink in the beer engine .also he,s married and had one child .so if theres anyone out there who can help please let me know by leaving a message on here....thank you

this is a amazing site and cannot belirve that a hate history and this makes it fun and there are loads of great pictures. I think that you need more veiws of the streets though but other than that its fab

does anybody know where I can find the words to the Houghton Weavers songs "The Martians have landed in Wigan" and "Ballad of Wigan Pier"? I have a Yorkshire friend whos heard these and hes taken a shine to them, but i cant find the lyrics anywhere for love nor money! it would be a big help if anybody could give me a link. thank you
