Hello all from the states- Just found this site and very much enjoyed it. My Mom, Nana & Grandad were from Wigan. My Grandfather was Jack Keenan; my Nana was Margaret Lowe Keenan; their eldest child, Madge, was my Mother. It was wonderful looking at the old pictures. My Grandfather went into the mines at the age of 9. Somewhere around 1907. My Nana worked in a cotton mill. They emmigrated here around 1920 or so. I saw a photo, placed in one of the old albums by someone named Margaret Kneale. A group photo of church musicians-and saw my Grandfather in it. What a treat! Margaret Kneale correctly called him out; even mentioning his move here to the states! Margaret-should you happen to read this...thank you! It was touching to see & know somebody had remembered him. We all thought the world of him. Please-if you read this, would you drop me a note? I'd love to say hello and see how you knew him. You also called out his brother-in-law, J. Lowe. ***sandra*** .. i lived in rayner ave, behind leyland park for most my life.did you live there, and how long ago?? the council houses have now been swapped for a new housing estate, eckersley ave isn't there anymore. the roses where in the center of the paddling pool until some 'wally' filled it will sand instead.. what a stupid idea that was..haha.. do you remember anyone from around there?
