I am still looking for the Bradley family who lived in Yates Street (off Miry Lane)in the late 40's and 50's there was Doreen who was the eldest then Billy next was May (my friend) and the youngest i called Alffie but his name was Frank i would just like to know how they are doing and what paths their lives have taken i think of them all often.
my husband and i came back to Wigan for a visit last weekend and i was transported back over 50 years, all my times spent there as a child were very happy and i still feel a great connection with the town
so if any has any info on this family i would love to hear form you

OOPS !!

Sorry....for the mis-spelling of your lovely park. I spent happy days in my childhood there...At Easter we decorated hard boiled eggs & rolled them down a slope to a path, hoping the shell would crack & then we peeled & ate them....

This is a great site, I know of no other place that has such a wonderful website. It keeps people up to date with whats going on, I think I have seen it all now.....SAVE MENSES PARK ? It shouldn't need people having to save it. What is it with Wigan Council? Why don't they knock down & rip up anything that gives Wigan a sense of history & be done with it ?
Next time round VOTE with your feet Wiganer's & meanwhile join the SAVE MENSES PARK CAMPAIGN !!

Left Wigan in November 2000 to take up a new life in the USA...still miss fish chips and peas...pies of course and the friendly banter of the Wigan folk Saturday Shopping.
Thought I would put a little note in here for a change...been a WiganWorld fan for a long time...keeps me in touch

lHi Jimmy & Cathy I've found out that Jimmy Conner last worked for Sankey & Monks Funeral directors in Leigh, may be some of the books were given to someone that worked there. Also Edna's son took the books that were left and gave them out to his family & friends, she has no idea were any of them live. And she won't give us her telephone number. So if you can give the said funeral directors a bell they may be able to help you
out. Please let me know.
