Thank you for a wonderful trip down memory lane looking at pictures of Haigh Hall! I was born in Southport, but came to the US as an infant. British mother/GI father. I spent many hours at Haigh Hall while visitng with my aunt and uncle, John and Marie Raffo, now deceased. They had the Baronay Restaurant and did the catering for banquets and weddings at Haigh Hall. Thank you!

Searching for the history of Bradley Hall on internet
Comments
Am researching my family history and have discovered that my maternal great grandmother was born at Bradley Hall and her family immigrated from England to Australia circa 1883. Would very much appreciate being in contact with any one who could pass on information, particularly historical information, concerning Bradley Hall.

My mother was Patricia Conroy, daughter of Edmund and Hanna. I spent my early childhood at 68 Market Street, before moving with my parents to California in 1955, my father William Giles was with the 8th Airforce stationed in Bertonwood. The sight is very interesting, and brought back some wonderful childhood memories. Found an ad for Conroy Bros, fantastic.

To Sally Dillon a yard in the past was when a house was built round a square.a courtyard. In later times terraced houses where built back of houses to back of houses with a small space between back of houses(for outside toilet etc)this was the yard.later terraced houses got longer yards instead of back gardens(simplified )
