It is still there. I was born just down the street at number 15. I spent many hours sitting on the steps or doing handstands there. It is still used, not sure of times etc. but it is also used for children's drama groups etc. They use the back entrance in the next street - just can't remember name - think it is Charles St. but not sure.

Used to be in charge of the Ribble Depot in the 1960's,the back yard was off Miry Lane behind the Brittania Mill, the first floor of which was rented off to the undertakers who used to exhibit their coffins and clothing you went to heaven in(hopefully). The Brittania Mill was demolished whilst I was there.I remember running the buses on coal-oil quite succesfully for a year, the only adverse effect was the fuel filters which had to be cleaned more frequently.(Conservation is old hat.)

I was home a couple of weeks ago... I miss my Wigan! Just shown two of my Dutch friends our wonderful way of speaking written down... Totally priceless! (and remember, to them... Dutch is normal, yeah!)
I'm having a bit of 'man trouble' at the moment so I've come up with these two...
"Avadinuferthi" and "Thazdewinmeyedin"
(The man in question is American btw...!)

This site is brilliant, I can't stop looking at it, hoping that I'll see a name I recognise. The memories it has brought back to me are never ending, and I' looking through my old photos to see what i can contribute. Every town should have a site like this.
