i would like to ask you owd wiganers especially folk from half way house area if you could settle a runnin debate between mi bro and me which is ( at the top of tunstall lane and ormskirk road was there ever a big lamp standard in the middle of the road it would be near the friut& veg shop my bro says it was there after second world war until mid 1950s iwas born at 460 ormskirk road thats roughly in middle of video shop now that were in 1947 my parents were THOMAS & ELIZABETH WINSTANLEY there is eldest wilfred,margaret,alan(me)&anne so is anyone can shed a light on this it would help solve this between wilf&me ( shed a light is that a pun or what)

forgotten derek hickman there where a few from newtown who had school uniforms i was there till 63 alan davies i think was in my classes till i left billy duckworths brother died in identical circumstances heart i think, he was with bill gregory, best mates so i believe though i forgot his 1st name cant remember prize giving at highfield ,obviously never deemed worthy of one.good pic remember all faces and some names.when i think of the difference in amenities at the grammar school today the bulldozer would just flatten the place i say that now but had a fierce pride in the school when i attended wonder what ofsted would have made of highfield !
