I have a Photo of INCE Blast Furnace around 1860's ?
The family story goes that my great Grandpop fell into the top of the Ince Blast Furnace as he tipped in a charge.
He was rescued and placed in a bed of cotton wool for 12 months and with a feather carron oil was applied, when oncovered his skin was baby skin

Hello You are right HAROLD PIZZEY was born in sept 1920 in ince also HAROLD PIZZEY was born in 1940 in hindley but FRANCES RAYNER i can not find her born any wear in wigan.
have you any more clues.

Hi,never got round to writting to the paper, this is better, am researching partners family tree, his name is William Allen, he left Abram in 1948 so has had no contact with his fathers side of the family. His father was also called William, married to a Phoebe Stretton, also from Abram, do know he is buried with his father and mother in Ince church yard, would be great if anyone out their can help. Any Spargo' in Adelaide?. Possible names are,
Agnes Margaret and Dereck, their parents, Alf and ? lived in Elm ave' Worsley Hall, they had brothers Alf and Ken and sister May, we are related by parent Alf was my grandmothers sister, any takers??.

Does anyone remember a big glass fronted chippy close to Wigan Town Centre, near the bingo hall? It was owned by the Slater family who had kids named John, Jack and Rita?

Foun it whilst browsing quite a while ago. Pity other communities don't have such excellent sites. I lived in coppull until 1953, my mums family lived in Rose ave Wigan until approx 1938,I was wondering if anyone could remeber them and fill some bits of family history in for me. Their name was Bailey they had children named Jane,William(billy)Mary,Agnes,Margaret and Thomas parents name were Margaret and Thomas. Jane married George Hesketh she died in 1939 Billy was killed in Greece during ww2> Mary married Thomas Gardiner Agnes married Harry Robinson he ended up as manager of trencherfield mill I think.My mum married Thomas Heyes from Coppull. I am specifically interested in the Bailey side of the family my grand mother was a Scully. Before living in Rose Ave they lived down Hardybutts. The Baileys came from Hindley.

I was looking through the site and notice that my nanna had been mentioned Molly Fouracre the well known wigan singer i just wanted to tell everyone that sadly my nanna (Molly Fouracre) died yesterday thursday 19th august 2010 Please anyone who new my nanna get in touch wiv me and i will give you details of the funeral which is next friday. Inno that my nanna will be sadly missed not only by our family but by her friends and followers thankyou xx
