My maternal grandparents are from wigan. They are John "jack" Cheetham and Elizabeth Jane Darwin. My grandma's mother was of a bargee family named Simm (Henry and Hannah), who were around crooke in the Mid to late 1800's. When Granddad went to war (1st WW), Grandma lived in Crooke hall with her first born, John. When Granddad returned from the war, they lived in "The Stables" in Crooke. If anyone is related or can give me more information, please get in touch.

Hello, I am looking for some relatives who lived in Rochdale. William Henry (called Harry) Rowe, marrried to Nora White who had 2 children Russell Raymond Born 1946 and Maureen Born 1947. I am tracing the Rowe family tree and I know they lived somewhere in Rochdale and that Russell served in the Lancashire Fusiliers. Anyone information would be greatly recieved. Regards Angela

Going through the Wiganworld site brings back so many memories of a great Town, I left in 1973.
It is wonderful to see all the old pictures showing the character of old Wigan, (Market, Arcades,Lowes) and what a busy place it was
