Lancs. Constab.(Little Hulton and Golborne) and GMP (Golborne, L.Ince and Wigan DHQ) to 1990. Now in B.C.
Looking to hook up with anyone in common with previous info.

I am trying to find out more about any of my fathers family, his name was Thomas Glover and he had a half brother called Diggle. He was originally from Crawford.

Very interesting site, evokes many memories I have of Wigan and surrounds. I'm trying to obtain a copy of Fred Darbyshire's book A Footplateman Remembers. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

My birth place was Abram all my family lived in Abram and I lived there until I got married at St Johns Church in 1968.I found your site brilliant and it brought back quite a lot of memories ,I will be using it quite agin in the future. I now live in Devon but me sister and family still live in Abram so I visit there some times.Everything as changed to how it used to be but your site did let me go back alittle to the good old days.

I came looking for picture of the wheel in front of the Tech. I found a blog on it, how it was broken up etc, but no pictures at all.Its hard to believe that you are hiding such a jewel without displaying it prominently

Noticed the was a discussion on Quakerism in the wigan area. To answer some questions; Yes the there are quakers in wigan. Yes we have a regular meeting. No we don't eat Quaker Oats all the time. To find out more please follow the link

Researching family history - descendants of John Battersby b 1810, married to Alice (? Taylor) b 1819, son Joseph Battersby b 1950, married Harriet Alker b 1855, had son Joseph b 1881 among others - this Joseph is husband's grandfather. What a wonderful site!! I have just discovered my Husband's Grandfather (Alfred Taylor 1877 - 1925)was born in Wigan. Does anyone know anything about Taylor's Grocers? They were 36 Manchester Road in 1891.

Is there anyone out there who used to be a children's nurse back in April 1957.When I was born in 1957 I was seperated for a short while from my Mum, because she had TB when she was young.The ward was near the Christopher Home.
