used it before, trying to trace an old friend

I would just like to post the sad news of my father's death.
He was Leonard Arkwright, born 22nd April 1914 to Minnie and Charles Arkwright of Hindley and Ince and died 6th April 2012 in Conway N.Wales. He was a well known actor in the Wigan Little Theatre until the 1970's. He taught English at Rose Bridge School during the 50's 60's and 70's. He is succeeded by his wife, my mother, Anne Kenyon whom he married in 1951.
I went to school at St Michael's, Junior school, Wigan, 1957- 63, Abraham Guest School, Orrell 63-68 and then to Wigan College of Art 68-71.
We would love to hear from anyone who knew him or the family.

Hello folks,
I am looking for any info on my grandfather Christopher Latham born1894/5 . I already know that he married an Elizabeth Ann Houghton in 1925 and had a son Henry b.1926 (there may have been a girl called Alice too)
My father was conceived out of wedlock prior to this and never knew his father. Christopher went on to to remarry Ellen Water in 1949. I know he had two grandsons (my cousins) Christopher John, and Ian Joseph. I beleive the grandsons still live in the springview area of Wigan. I have been unable to trace any member of the family but would truly love to get some info on my Grandfather, and Uncle Henry. If anyone knows of anyone that could be of help I would be so grateful. It would fill in the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle for me.

Have recently put an old school photograph on, taken at St Michaels and all Angels in the classroom dated around 1953/54, would love to put names to old classmates

Hi linda, I think i have found your members of your family, they are buried in wigan cemetery. John,Rebecca, James,Annie and Margaret but it gives James death 1907 and gives johns death 1889. hope this helps

Great site. Thanks to a Wigan friend I found an old photo on the school site it was great to see the old mates from Wigan. and I have had some happy conversations with many of them since .

I had great grandparents and great great grandparents who lived in Vauxhall rd and BK Vauxhall rd,
Bk Vauxhall rd was the st,at the back of Vauxhall rd,Vauxhall rd is still there.
what is your ancesters name? you never know may be related mine were there in the 1800s.

I am wondering what the difference is in Back Vauxhall road and vauxhall road. My great grandparents lived at 15 Back Vauxhall road in 1863 when their daughter was born

Select "stuff" on the tool bar, then scroll down to Wigan cemetery index. insert your Preston name in the search box, and it will give you the names of any relatives who lived around the Poolstock area @ the time, and the grave no. they are buried in. Sadly, 107 Poolstock Lane was demolished quite a few years ago, and the site is overgrown. Good luck in your search

does anyone remember tommy the milk horse who pulled the milk cart around cale lane area in the 1960's my auntie used to live there and i can remember him being retired to a farmers field by the canal bridge
