Gordon I am an old Platt Bridger (emphasis on old) If your Dad was Bill Topping he was a friend and workmate of mine. My wife attended Moss Lane School but it was many years ago. Regards Steve.

Looking to hear from anyone from Platt Bridge area, I used to live on Moss Lane, No 125 then 76 a grocers corner shop.
Also keen to learn from anyone who went to the Seconday School (don't remember if it was called Moss Lane or Platt Bridge County Secondary School).

Have just read the recently published The Road to Wigan Pier Revisited by Stephen Armstrong and it concentrates on life today especially for the poor and disadvantaged. It has lots to say about life in the north with quite a few references to Wigan. It gives you much to think about.Well worth a read.

Message for Jane Arkwright. I was taught by Mr. Arkwright. Lovely man. I left Rose Bridge in 1974 which was the introduction to the school leaving age of sixteen at Secondary schools. I passed my English exam, thanks to Mr Arkwright. I seem to vaguely remember that he was retiring that same year.

Can you help? I've been trying for ages to get into the replies that have been sent to my two postings but seem unable to, or to link to the email address for the webmaster on the site. I'd love to know what replies I have had, thanks.
