I wish to register too, why can't we? I am an ex Brynner, (my dad had Hursts shop in Downall Green Road from 1950 to 1983)/Ashtonian/Marus Bridger. I visited Haigh Hall at the weekend and was shocked at how dilapidated the Model Village, Zoo area and Pitch and Putt has become. Very sad.
I used to have a vimto lolly (1d) from the shop in Downall Green Road every Sunday on the way back from Bryn Baptist Sunday School. My sister, Pam, and I had 3d to spend...we asked for the penny tray and usually bought a vimto lolly, 4 fruit salads amd 4 black jacks, or a packet of parma violets.

all this talk about who will light the Olympic flame ..hope its not Daley Thompsom..shame what one memory can do..mine is of Daley compeating at Wigan years ago..and a little girl with one leg in plaster and on crutches hobbled across the rase track to get daleys outograph..he was just sitting on the grass event over..he just shook his head..she just turned and walked back..I was in the crowd and felt ashamed for him..hope he remembers that memory for I will never forget or forgive it. regards Frank

I am trying to trace relatives that lived in Norley Hall, my dads sister Joyce Oliver, her husband Don Oliver and their daughter Carol Oliver (Dowd). My dad was Richard (Dickie) Holland and his wife was Joan.

Thanks for the replies. The houses were originally built as a club/pub in 1893 (approx.) before being converted. The police station sits just behind them where the most recent jolly jacks was. someone mentioned that the houses could of been a british legion originally of some sort.

Looking for any old images of the houses at Hall Street in Bryn Gates (behind the police station). I am lead to believe they used to be a club/pub before being converted. Would be very grateful if anyone has any or can point me in the right direction.
