I was born in Aspull, mid 60's. Emigrated to Australia young. Visited family last September, fantastic to re-connect the bond with my family. Visited churches of relatives past. Wandered around town taking in the lovely sites of my home town. Such a quaint place. Looking forward to visiting again next year, much more wandering and experiences to be had with my family. Great site by the way.... wish my mum was still here to see the old photo's of Wigan so she could tell me some stories of her youth.

Visited Wigan last September, as my ancestors were from there, I thought t was a lovely little town, contrary to what other people said, when I told them I was heading to Wigan, I was a little hesitant not knowing what to expect, I liked the place and to see the All Saints Church, wheremost of my ancestors were married, what a beautiful church, love to get back there one day

Does anyone know of SUSAN BRIDGE, she will be about 50/53 years old now, I think she got married between 1997/1999. She used to work as manager for Virgin Records in town, and I think she grew up living on Pemberton Road, their used to be a massive grassy park directly across from her house. It would be great to catch up after all this time, so if anyone can pass on this message or let me know how I can contact her please at : marks1account@gmail.com

Tommy,
My eldest daughter married Alan Jones son. We
realized the family connection when he recognised a photo of Mother Mears [correct title] which a relative had had published in the local paper.I was showing it to my daughter at the time. She was stood at her back door dressed in a brat and holding a bar of soap and a scrubbing brush as big as a small loaf. Washing day for was it 6 sons and a husband most of whom worked in the pit. But could she crochet.
