Great site. My ancestors are all from Wigan - BENNETT'S & GERRARD'S. I was born in the USA. My Wife & I visited Wigan in 2001 after waiting almost 70 years. I can't wait to get back again. Thanks for a great web site.

Moved with my family to Canada May 2002, used to live in Orrell, mother still lives in Norley Hall, sister in Whelley. This is a great site for memories and showing the locals here our fantastic home town. Great work Brian please keep it going.

Re: New Information Yards of Wigan. Yet again I have found out something I wanted to know from this site and other helpful viewers.
My Grandmother's cousin married a man who had originated from Dickinsons Yard.
Of course no a modern day clue, but I always take the course of my lot do not fall far from the tree - tribal grasslands sort of style, the area being Pemberton. Lo and behold, once again, the new listing Yards of Wigan solves the query and my conviction. Ormskirk Road. Thank You Brian.

Excellent site with photos to match. Really enjoyed the site. Ex Wigan Police 1957-62 before leaving Wigan Area for Manchester/Cheshire then Lincolnshire. Emigrated October 1996. Many happy memories came back.
