I can still see Mrs Pollitt in her shop from when I was a kid.She would give us an apple when we saved up newspapers and took them in to her. Her son was Alan who went to school with us. Sorry, I don't know anymore. Have you tried facebook?

Also I remember Alan Porter and have worked in Nanaimo myself.

I am trying to trace my paternal family my grandmother owned a fruit and veg shop in Pemberton Mrs Pollitt. One of your members have mentioned this shop (Fred Mason) I would be grateful for any help whatsoever. How nice to connect with you ! Your sister's name I remember but, like you, I cannot see a face.

I am in Nanaimo. I spent a number of years as a medical officer in the Canadian Armed Forces and ended up at the Navy Base Esquimalt in Victoria.

If you were at UGS in 1951 I might have a photo that you were in. I have the complete album of all the school photos that were taken in Sept 1951. It was given to me by Mr Studdert before he passed away.

I was at UGS 1951-57. I can remember your name,But cannot put a face to it! You problably wouldn't remember a lowly first-former, when you would have been an exalted third, or was it Fourth year for you. You might have known my sister,who was in her final year in'51; she was a prefect.(she was Jean Patten).How long have you been in Canada,and whereabouts in Vancouver Island do you live?

I have sent a photo of some of the flowers and a photo that have been placed on the grave to Photo a Day so we will have to see if it gets chosen by the admin.
BTW do you know of any more old people who are on there last legs for videoing

I am looking for some info on my family the pizzey's from Wigan area,
My mum is Tina-marie pizzey born 1966
My grandfather is Harold pizzey born 1940 his mother was lilly pizzey nee Ince,
His father was Harold pizzey born 1920 to Mary pizzey.
I have been looking for my mum for many years but no luck.
If anyone knew any of them please let me know it would be nice to find out more.

Alive and very well, yes I worked at Cronton, Sutton Manor and Parsonage, retired in 1987 and moved to Kent in 2002.To put the records strait my highest appointments where Deputy Manager .

Found a painting By H Walder of Wigan Pier (1920)... it was in my father inlaws treasures after he passed away...Looked up Wigan, some very interesting reading..

A message for Helen in Norfolk.
I do remember the Paris trip,although I wasn't a participant. I believe it was open to fourth forms and up, one of my friends went and brought me a souvenir of two silk scarves. There was a later trip to Yugoslavia, when Mr.Maggs almost got arrested for turning a portrait of Marshall Tito face to the wall! I was fortunate enough to go to Switzerland on a winter trip to Switzerland in my Lower Sixth year.

Ellen I have found a photo album belonging to my sister Anne Bradshaw. In the album are photos of her forms trip to France in 1954. Would you have any recollection of that trip ?

I am researching my family tree. My granddad's name was Lowe. His family were all miners in Ashton in Makerfiekd and Ince. Any aloes on here? My grandad moved to Blackburn after the First World War and had a big family - 11 kids. He had a brother Joe, who lived in Wigan. Any Loews on here - we could be related!
