Nutty Tart,I used to play in the back yard of the Star pub when I was a lad..What was the name of the cloggers shop opposite Nathan(Tanny)Wrights shop. The manager of Wrights shop was a James Monks.I also used to deliver milk for Mr Fairhurst who lived at 166 Wigan Rd Bryn.He owned nearly all the land behind that side of Wigan Rd.(all now built on).Happy days..

Was Wally Bishops the Brittania?
I do remember the Star very well, my auntie had her wedding reception upstairs there in the early 60s. My lot came from Nicol road.
I don't recall any of the landlords names that you mention though...sorry.

Hiya ferdy, You've lost me now, sorry never heard of Wally Bishop, must be before my time but I remember hearing about the Bryn Crusaders from my dad.
Rabbit run is still there but quite over grown now, I don't think many know that it's there, a lot of em are strags in the area now.

welcome nutty tart, to all the bryners this is a true fact ,on 11 feb1800 the royal mail was robbed by 3 highwaymen on the road by whittledge green ,they were all caught & one james weldon was hanged his body was covered with tar & left to hang in a cage on whittledge green just to the rear of bryn labour club,so did you hear a voice say "stand & deliver"when you pass bryn labour club on a dark & lonely night !!!
