looking for richard fishwick he used to live in lower ince . im looking for my old pal we were in the army together..he would be about 37 now..does anyone know him..the fishwick are a big family ..from hr ince. lower ince, spring view.so any information would be much appreciated cos we have a big reunion comin up soon and it would be a shame for him to miss it

Ha ha I remember the roller rink in the early 80s I used to go every week, does anyone remember the couple that danced to soft cell's tainted love in the middle of the rink?? I was only just into my teens then, they looked so cool. did you remember the skates with 4 wheels? lol were you dominion or chicago lovers?(big or small wheels) I had chicago. where have those days gone?

On one of your quiz pages (general knowledge) you ask where did the Beatles play in Wigan in October 1963. Please can you amend this - the Beatles played in Wigan (at the ABC) in October 1964, not 1963 - I know because I was there. Mary Wells was one of the supporting acts singing 'My Guy' and that song wasn't released until 1964

Does the enquiry from Diantha Sarver still accept comments? I am 79, the son of Robert Victor Swarbrick, who is featured on the site, and related to Frank Williams, the subject of her enquiry. I have tried to send her an e mail, it was returned. I have some photographs of old Wigan, and many documents, though I handed most over to 'Wigan Pier' someyears ago

Great site. A window into a world my Grandfather sailed from in 1923. I was at a mates wedding on Saturday night,the brides father is frim Wigan. We chatted about a past I never knew. Thanks for a very user friendly and comprehensive site.

Just to thank the people of stubshaw and ashton for attending the meeting regarding the Proposed development at Stubshaw where they want to build 28 industrial units on farm land and green belt fields.

eric the only electrical engineer that i remember at golborne colliery was tommy liptrott the elder brother of les but there was a benison who was in charge of all the lamproom activities in the northwest area of the ncb he used to work at the victoria colliery at standish many years ago & got promoted to lamproom engineer for the area

eric the name you are looking for is harold benison (rocket to us lot)he used to wipe his backside with a clump of grass don·t ask me how i know that but you know what us kids used to get up to there was no privacy around the bryn kids

Ferdy, I have a Ordnance survey map printed off at Wigan history shop, it is on that, it dosn't show the railway going through bryn, i think it is 1842
