What a fantastic site! Congratulations to all involved. I'm researching my family tree and am looking for the Heskeths from around 1840 in Ince. Henry Hesketh born 1839. I do know that he moved away Liverpool around 1870. I am trying to find parents or siblings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Saw photos of Paddys flash, remember when it was frozen over,we kids used to take a short cut across it from Wigan Rd to Bryn Rd,very foolish thing to do,I admit... I remember as a lad in the 40s the council tipping rubbish in it at Bryn Rd end.Happy days..

this site is great, very informative and covers a lot of issues within the Wigan Boro'.
What i would like to know is .... what happened to the fotos you had for Bryn? we were looking at them just before Christmas and now they are not there !
Why is it lil' ole Bryn is slowly disappearing from Wigans maps and boundaries? There is so little written in the history books about it! It is another area steeped in History. We were one of the first areas - with Warrington - to have an iron age settlement.

Fascinating! My forbears come from Hindley, so I am very interested in the website. I was looking through the `Wigan Streets` (particularly Lowe Mill Lane, Hindley) and I noticed it was submitted by Keith Guest. I am trying to piece together several generations of my family - all named Guest. Would love to hear from Keith.
