My family and I used to live on Rose Bridge Terrace, which I don't think even exists anymore,I'd love to find out if anyone has any pictures from around the late 60's-early 70's of the canal and the terrace houses...I remember opening the lock's for the barges to go through, with my brother's and so much more...

My husband and his family are Greenoughs who appear to have resided in Pemberton, Parr West leigh in the 1800s.

Can somebody tell me if they have heard of Laffack Colliery Farm, Parr? We seem to have had relatives there from the 1861 Census

thanks

I was looking to see if I could find info on a Colin Gregory who was my pen pal way back in 1965. He lived at 36 Marsh Green, Wigan. He'd be about 55 years old by now.

I have enjoyed looking at your site especially the old photos of Wigan some of which I can remember when visiting relatives in the Scholes during the 1950's.I am afraid I have no idea if any of my distant relatives are still living in Wigan, the main surname was Fillingham,I know of cousins of my mother who live in Newton Le Willows.Any Fillinghams still in Wigan, also looking for relatives of a William Bissell who was my Grandmothers (Lily Fillingham born Wigan 1891)first husband who was killed at Gallipoli in August 1915.

Brian! 2 questions.
Is it possible to have a genealogy forum like ST Helens connect? have you seen their site? http://www.sthelens-connect.net/
It's really good for the searching and local knowledge. We are better than St Helens anyway ;o)
And I'm on the ex-pat pages in Mozambique I've moved countries twice since, how can I change my profile? We are now in Sunny Dubai, 34 today lovely but it gets upto 50 in July/Aug so we will be back in Wigan then :o)
Best Regards
Susan

i'm a golborner now living in galway!!
is golborne real????someone once said that it was aplace in time that had no home to go to so it just existed in limbo untill it eventually collapsed into itself through lack of anyone really giving a s***.
although the golborne sports n social club rocks to a diffrent beat , bringing many succseses to golborne in an array of sports but no one really cares anymore they just want a cheap pint

This is a really great site. I'm researching family history. Family names Rose, Walls (both originated in Aspull I think) Storey, Clayton, Bewley. Seeking additional information. I was born in Manley Street, Lower Ince. Went to St Mary's infants/junior school. Then Brittania Bridge when it was a girls secondary modern.
