Hi, Glo, just remind Paul where you will be parking (He's funny that way). He told me the BBC was a flop but he enjoyed it all the same. Good Luck. Joseph.

Can't wait to join the wonderful looking new site. Looking forward to meeting you all and chewing the fat on all things Wigan. Paul Walsh will remember me, we met at a BBC conference last year.

Margaret, must admit to being intrigued as to why there is no one called Margaret Small living in Rochester? Odd that. When I put me name in 192.com, I get the last three addresses I've had along with the names of the rest of the household. But you appear not to exist. 😆

Unable to join WW as they are not allowing new members. But after reading the posts, yours included, and the personal attacks that are meted out by you and others I don't think I shall bother. The posts are all the same these days right wing rantings that I do not wish to be apart of, you yourself and one or two others are spamming the Communicate board with nothing less than bitter accusations of peoples sexual orientations in the foulest of ways by supposed adults. I call it as I see it, no if's or but's, it's not a welcoming place for real debate.

Neil and Margaret, don't know when you grew up, but no-where is the same as when you were kids. Things move on, some good, some bad. Hey ho, that's how it is unless you are stuck in a time warp.
Regarding Margaret's comment about right wing posters, so you don't see any left wing posters do you not? Perhaps we are reading different threads. I don't think anyone's views on here "tar all Wiganers with the same brush" not at all, these are personal views, no one on here has claimed to speak for the Town that I've seen! Whey don't you join Wigan World and then you can join in the debates.

I agree Neil, we came up several weeks ago to visit family and what a shock. My husband was threatened on our first night out because of his accent, the car was keyed causing hundreds of pounds damage. We got approached on several occasions by young people asking if we had got a certain type of drug. Not the Wigan I lived and was brought up in. I like looking at WW and reading what people are up to these days, but there is a lot of far right wing mentality that is being represented on the site which is tarring all Wigan people with the same brush.

I once lived in Wigan I spent my childhood there but what a place it is now. I returned for a visit and my car was vandalised and broken into. The people were sullen and not the Wiganers I knew. When the local police were contacted they weren't interested and just gave me a number. It saddens me that the town I grew up in has evolved into this.

I am trying to locate family of James William GRIMSHAW (My grandfather) He travelled to New Zealand with his parents THOMAS and MARGERET (nee CURRAN) circa 1919. James's cousin owned hotels in Lanchashire - I had letters from an Irene some 20 years ago but have been lost. Very keen to get in touch as family are travelling there early 2016.
