Neil and Margaret, don't know when you grew up, but no-where is the same as when you were kids. Things move on, some good, some bad. Hey ho, that's how it is unless you are stuck in a time warp.

Regarding Margaret's comment about right wing posters, so you don't see any left wing posters do you not? Perhaps we are reading different threads. I don't think anyone's views on here "tar all Wiganers with the same brush" not at all, these are personal views, no one on here has claimed to speak for the Town that I've seen! Whey don't you join Wigan World and then you can join in the debates.

I agree Neil, we came up several weeks ago to visit family and what a shock. My husband was threatened on our first night out because of his accent, the car was keyed causing hundreds of pounds damage. We got approached on several occasions by young people asking if we had got a certain type of drug. Not the Wigan I lived and was brought up in. I like looking at WW and reading what people are up to these days, but there is a lot of far right wing mentality that is being represented on the site which is tarring all Wigan people with the same brush.

I once lived in Wigan I spent my childhood there but what a place it is now. I returned for a visit and my car was vandalised and broken into. The people were sullen and not the Wiganers I knew. When the local police were contacted they weren't interested and just gave me a number. It saddens me that the town I grew up in has evolved into this.

I am trying to locate family of James William GRIMSHAW (My grandfather) He travelled to New Zealand with his parents THOMAS and MARGERET (nee CURRAN) circa 1919. James's cousin owned hotels in Lanchashire - I had letters from an Irene some 20 years ago but have been lost. Very keen to get in touch as family are travelling there early 2016.

It is very nice reading all the letters you post about the Wigan and areas that surround. We have met some very nice Wigan people while here as guests in your country. I will keep looking at the letters you post and tell my friends what a wonderful place we have come to. Thank you all and thank you for allowing me to write this.

love to visit Wigan World - having been born and raised in a very close Welsh village, when I married a Wigan lad and cme to live in Wigan, I found people to be so friendly and welcoming and 36 years later I moved home to Wales, but hold Wiganers in very high esteem and enjoy visiting Wigan World and keeping in touch, albeit from a distance!

Think what you like, Jodi. The fact is I was the author of that post and the other addressed to Paul. The other was done by persons unknown, Paul stated that he had read the same post elsewhere, which is not true because I did not post it anywhere else but on the WW Guestbook. That is fact the admin should know the details of who posted what.
