A really good site, so full of information. I enjoyed Tony Haslam's photographs. Was Mill St formerly Mill Lane? If so has Tony any photos of 2 Mill Lane or 8 Chapel St where my great grandparents lived 1870 - 1900? Quite a coincidence that we live in Mill Road, Oundle, formerly Mill Lane!

WIGAN WORLD WORKS !! I was looking through the communications last week and saw that a lady in the south of England was looking for a ROY ANKERS. Roy lives near to me in New Zealand ! I put the lady in touch with Roy, she is a relative of his, they haven't seen each other for over 55 years !!

born in wigan,mi mum and dad rant Prince of wales pub on Bell Green Lane during the war, does anyone remember the rubber dump, and the yanks,a fell of back of one of there trucks when a was a kid, we used to swing on the backas they came out of pub, av ered pubs been pulled down since.

Found the site very interesting.Was great to ba able to show my wife and friends a little of my roots,with being a wiganer myself.They were all amazed at the wigan speyk too,and had fun listening them trying to recite it too dave

Great website. Really enjoy looking at the photo's of Shevington were I used to live and of course the pubs in the town centre. Happy memories !! Always good to remember your roots !!!!!!

I have lived in the US for many years. Born in Bamfurlond, lived in Abrahm and Bickershaw. Went to Cardinal Newman in Hindley. Still miss Wigan town center on Saterdays.. Perriwinkles,pork pies and sloppy peas. Most of all the people. This is a great site. Thanks Maureen for coming to visit and bringing Wigan with you.

Wigan Bus on Blackfriars bridge 1968. You can still hear all the Londoners shuffling through their A-Z trying to find Wigan! Great!
