Great site for Wiganers & others, look at it every day.

Help required. In the course of researching my
Prescott family history I have traced my Grt Uncle, John Prescott born in 1871 in Ince. John had a son Eric born abt 1910 who married Adeline Gregory. They in turn had a son David John born April 1942.

If anyone recognises these names could they leave a message please. I have family history that I am happy to share with them. No Strings attached.

Many Thanks.

I understand My Father, Harold Kellie who was a builder and also a Wiganer, knocked down some houses across from Wigan Hospital on Wigan Lane around 1960's which I think we're called The Woodlands. Can anyone tell me anything about the homes and who lived there in 1900's onwards. Any photos also helpful. Thankyou

After my mother's death, I have come across a World War 1 memorial card for Pte William Lewis, South Wales Borderers, son of George and Kate Lewis, husband of Jane Fearnley of 19 Bridgecroft Street, Hindley, Wigan and wish to return the card to living relatives.

Hello, I have come to Bolton/Wigan to do research on a Canadian/ British folk hero who came from Wigan. His name was Joseph "Joe" Naylor. I know he was born on August 12, 1872 in Wigan. He died 5th October 1946 in Cumberland, British Columbia, Canada. If this is your relative, then I am absolutely dying to speak with you about him. My email is Karlie.Banville@gmail.com.If you know anything, if you think you know anything, I would so appreciate you contacting me. Joe Naylor is an important part of Canadian history, and I can't let him fade into nothing. I have one photo of him that I am happy to share, if it helps. Thanks for your time.

Re.Island Row I remember in the 1940's the whole area was subject to flooding due to the brook that ran along the side and front of these houses, maybe this was the origin of the name.

Thanks Rolyat. I did see cottages called Island Row on WW & wondered if The Island might have been that area. Looking on old maps the land there does look as if it was a sort of island, cut off by the canal, railway lines etc

I wonder if anyone out there could help me.
My Prescott/Dawson family history shows on the 1861 census that John Dawson & his family were living at...The Island, Ince in Makerfield.....John Dawson was a plate layer on the railway.
Obviously the address, The Island does not exist today but does anyone know where it might have been ?

I am trying to trace my family history in relation to the Turton family and came across an article written by various members of the forum including a John Moses, who emigrated to Canada and who I remember as a cousin of mine. I have attempted to join the forum but keep getting an error message every time I try to join. I would love to get in contact with John MOSES but am unable to do so. Can anyone help please
