Hi Just thought i would share this link with anyone who would like to trace where any old buildings mines/ roads etc used to stand. compared against the map of today.you can superimpose todays map over the old o/survey map to find locations from the past. handy if you are tracing family history. thanks.Http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side

Other information i have found is
my grandfather`s brother Jack had 2 sons one called Stanley and one called John ,John married and had a daughter called Jennifer.
grandfathers sister Helen was married twice once to Samuel Lloyd and once to someone called Tinsley .
Amelia did marry and had four children i do not know who they are

I am trying to find out about my grandfather David rigby he was registered as living at 22 spring gardens wigan when he was born in 1897.His father`s name was Thomas Rigby ,his mother`s name was Mary Jane Rigby (formerly Lester) Thomas Rigby lived at this address when David was born.
My mum told me that David had 2 brothers and 2 sisters named Albert, Amelia,Helen and Jack ,i have not been able to find any info about any of them .
I do know my grandfather David was living in 27 Broom road Southport when he was 13
with someone called Richard Rigby ,other than that i have no other information about him any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Nell,just to reply the surgery on ormskirk rd at union bridge closed a few years ago, most people now go sherwood drive medical centre cant find web site but phone number 01942 367199 fax 01942 221 0980.sorry can't be of more help viv.

Can some one please tell me if the GP surgery that used to be on Ormskirk Road near Norfolk St is still open or have they moved trying to get my medical records from them.

Great site -- one of the best I have seen for layout images and responses. I am presently retired and have been writing my biography. 8I am looking for a colleague Ian Crompton who was an art/pottery teacher in the Ashton / Wigan area. I worked with him in Knowsley Secondary in the late 1960's -- lost contact with him. I know its a advert for the Coop but certainly an eye catching & happy one.

Helen West and Pi Eta, it certainly is Hindley All Saints Church also the Silver Choir of Hindley, organised by the Wigan borough's Age UK group.

Pi Eta, I think you are right, I have just looked at the image of All Saints. The 2 windows at the rear seem to be exactly the same.

I saw the advertisement today, it looks like All Saints Church, George Street, Hindley. Check it out on images.
