O.K. then, You got me. Even though I live in Standish, near Wigan, I actually originate from Liverpool so that makes me a 'Posh Scouser' ;)hehe. But I like living here so I'll call myself a 'Standishnearwiganer' then. I'm still trying to get rid of my scouse accent though, it's very hard !

I lived in Pemberton, Standish and Kitt Green in 1973-74. Met the love of my life at the British Home Stores in Wigan. Married Valerie in 1973 and I brought her home to OZ in July '74. Loved Centrl Park and loved the Wiganers. Great place and great people.

There gotta be more to life than sat here making beans.....i could be sat on Coogee beach NSW with a tinni of Tooheys New ahhhh !

if wigan is so great why does it need all the surrounding small towns to keep it's head above water? wigan should support itself. we are all being fleeced.

There was a Wiganer worked on our site once. One day, at jackbit, he got out a thermos flask. One brickie asked him if it was a new flask. "Aye", he answered, "It's a thermos flask, raaaaght". "Av geet it of t'market, tha'knows". "T'mon towd us it'll keep hot things hot, raaaaght, an' cowd things cowd". "What have you got in it then?" asked the brickie "Av geet a bowl of soup, an' a choc ice in it", said the Wiganer. And thats true, that is !

If you go right from Landgate estate and round the island with the daft ornament on it, you see a sign that says WIGAN. Then you are in Wigan, and not before. Wigan Borough is another matter. Thats just an authority title and, call it what they will, they've put us in it whether we like it or not. Think how people in Downall Green feel, they've changed their name to 'north ashton' and put them under St.Helens. Nothing is proper anymore. Oh, and Dave Whelan isn't a Wiganer either. He's from Bradford. Apparently.

Phils battering my head with this. I live in Golborne, not Warrington or Wigan or anywhere else just Golborne. My address is Warrington too but I just put Golborne, Lancs. and it still gets here. My Mum says we are in the Parish of Winwick but who gives a toss ? Phil will be round here after giving me grief about that one ! I have to give him that though, postcode and actual o.s. location is Warrington and always has been, but if Phil wants to pay extra council tax for living in Warrington he can but not me . I'm having to go to asda now for a bottle of red to calm me down before HE gets here.

i,ll tell thee art .i know wigan .does the know the white swan pub in lower ince i used to sup me pints therr.so i aint that much a stranger to wigan.what i dont like about wigan is that the folks that live there are so unfriendly.
