Craig, how can Lowton be in Wigan, you clown ? It's miles away ! Unless, of course, there is another Lowton that I don't know about. The only one I know is on my way to Leigh from my house. Wigan is in the opposite direction, at the other side of Ince, where the sign is that says 'Wigan'.

I grew up in Poolstock in the seventies. There was two characters who everyone was frightened of, one used to tell all the kids that he'd caught a massive roach in the river douglas and the other one was known as the Poolstock tights sniffer and always wore firemans wellies. Does anyone remember these two characters ?

If you are going to show photographs of houses in Garswood, please have the common decency to list them as being in Garswood and not Ashton in Makerfield. Also, a bit of forethought would not go amiss before you start to take pictures of houses in Billinge to include on your Wigan site. I am a bit annoyed that my house is pictured on here as being in Wigan when it isn't. Plus, I wouldn't like to think we were being weighed up by any opportunist thief.

I am trying to find Hurst family members. My GG grandmother was Elizabeth Hurst, her fathers name was Jacob, we believe they were from the Wigan area. Elizabeth was born about 1828.

I am ever so sorry, Art, for the assumation that you are both Whosf'ar T'ed and their Ivef'ar T'ed. As you can see, though, the name Art appears in both their names. It must be a 'manifestation'. I will stand in the corner with my hands on my head, so everyone can flick ink on my back !

I have come to the conclusion that Whosfar Ted and his brother Ivefar Ted are actually Art, acting the goat. You can't hide, Art, your writing style gives you away. And if the 2012 Olympics ARE held in Wigan, it's to be hoped that Wigan Council aren't in charge of things 'cos they couldn't organise a p*$ in a brewery !

My dad Wilf Grange did a documentary with Tommy Blackledge of the Northern Anglers Assoc. on the pollution of the River Douglas I think it was on scene at 6.30. Anybody know how I can get a copy. Also does anybody know if they are still giving the cup we donated to Northern Anglers when my dad died.It was for the Schoolboys.
