INDIA ?

I was just wandering did anyone see a report on the bbc news channel yesterday , concerning INDIA'S energy crisis .It told us that India is 74 % totally dependant for it's energy use of COAL . It stated that they are planning to open a further 30 /50 extra coal mines to meet their demand for energy consumption . Here again is a question i put on here some time ago and that is WHY is this tiny island of BRITAIN going hell for leather to get us away from fossil fuels and to put all our eggs in one basket and to " GO ALL ELECTRIC ???? One should not forget that countries like CHINA /RUSSIA/POLAND / RUMANIA /USA/ AUSTRALIA/ are ALL BURNING COAL at such a huge pace .SO I ASK what will the impact this tiny country will make to the world's climate ..( just think about it ) It will be miniscule, So why have we closed all our mines down and put hundred's yes hundred's of thousand's of people out of work ,, FOR WHAT IF THESE OTHER'S ARE NOT GIVING A TOSS? Seeing that news item on INDIA they quoted saying " We have 1.4 BILLION PEOPLE TO FEED AND KEEP WARM & TO KEEP THEIR INDUSTRY RUNNING WE CAN'T JUST TURN OFF OUR COAL PRODUCTION ,,,....SO THERE YOU HAVE IT ,,CLIMATE CHANGES ,,,,,,YOUR JOKING .......GB

Ironic really. Spending a fortune to reduce CO2 emissions and now swathes of industry could close down because of a shortage of …………..CO2.

Thatcher and the tories closed the pits and it was nothing whatsoever to do with climate change.

I Know it,s not right that most of the world are still using coal but have you older people noticed that things & places are a lot cleaner since the pits shut.

Xi Jinping has announced at the UN General Assembly on Thursday that China will stop building coal power plants abroad. Roughly 70% of coal plants around the world being built today are financed by China.
It's reckoned that removing China's finance could mean a lasting moratorium on coal.
However, he didn't say when the finance would stop or what China would do about its continued coal investments at home.

I did see that report on the BBC last week, with the street urchins in the coal, and a man pushing a bike, with a sack of coal over the cross bar, he must have been coal picking, and the last time I saw that was in 1974 over the old Pemberton Collieries site, when Whupsy and his mates were holding the country to ransom, and folk were going coal pickin, and I remember those power cuts too, and me mam making us teas, using a frying pan over a candle

I remember there being a shortage of candles, and candles being rashioned, if you had a torch yoo were posh.

I am in deep rural. small island Ireland Where we burn turf - and smokeless coal eggs from Poland But mostly good Irish turf.
