This is a fascinating thread but I'd just like to clarify exactly where the Bodega was on King Street which was discussed earlier. I worked at 26 King Street (Gibson, Russell & Adler, Solicitors) back in the 60s and further up the road, guessing at number 32 or 34 was a firm of Solicitors, then called Frank Platt & Fishwick. The Bodega was accessed to the left of this firm by a set of stairs leading downwards into a bar which later became known as the Beer Keller, then later still as the King of Clubs. This probably doesn't help your project, but perhaps helps with the history.
