Molly M - I remember someone telling me she was in Hellen Keller house.
Although we shared the same hall, the boys and girls were kept strictly separate. There was a line painted on the school yard to define the limited areas for each gender. Our football often would go into the girls' area and as it was forbidden to enter we would have to politely ask for the ball back. Some mischievous girls would keep hold of the ball and tease us saying " Come and get it then!" I often went to retrieve a ball and was either caught by the teacher on playground duty or reported by one of the nasty snitching prefects. That always meant at least one painful stroke of the cane on my backside! I'm not sure how the girls were punished, if at all there were!
