The facts are that SALFORD first claimed the nickname "The Red Devils " after playing some kind of exhibition Rugby in France for a couple of month's and therein after that the French gave them the Name "Red Devils" alternativly the French called them ""LES DIABLES ROUGES ""
AS for my Club MAN.U. they were known as the Busby Babes but in 1973 adopted the nickname of The Red Devils . This was because the club changed the badge which was to incorporate a " DEVIL HOLDING A TRIDENT " I believe it was the late MATT BUSBY who was responsible for it >
