If your family like mine are Wiganers, the history shop has loads of information.
I am new to the game and I have got lots of info from Lancs BMD and familysearch.org.
I've also found that if you have any older relations living, they can also give you some family stories which are sometimes a good starting point in your research.
My local library also has access to census reports and I can get copies for only 10p.
I hope thisd helps anyone whose starting off researching their family.
