People   (Re-unions, trace old friends and relatives.)

Started by: maggie (511)

my earliest memories are of the war. My Dad got done because a light shone through the blackout in the bathroom. My brother was in the R.A.F and had lots of tales. (he's a lot older than me.)I saw the bomb damage in Liverpool. I also remember the evacuees from Bootle and how very badly they were treated until they were driven out. The sweet rationing for a kid was worse - my brother brought me back an orange from Iceland and I took it to school where I was surrounded by kids, and as I peeled it, a boy took the peel from me and ate it, I didn't like the orange and he took it and ate it all in one gulp. we carried our gas masks everywhere and our identity disks - my son has mine in his collection. I watched as a german plane burned on Winter Hill. I could be a big bore about it.
