My mom actually was at Greenfield Orphanage from about 1945 - 57 or so? Her name was Mary Sheila Ryan. She says that there was a Mother Gerald and Sisters Quinas, Lawrence, Isabel. Her favorite was Sister Quinas. She seemed to be the only one that was nice to her. She says that she had issues with wetting the bed a few times and she was hit for it. She remembers being hungary alot and eating carrots from just outside the kitchen. She went to the St. Mary school but she says they never really taught anything. She remembers a Terry Oreilly, Mary McDonald, Martin Clark (alterboy), and Rita Higgins. She remembers the Hoylake trips the most (twice a year). Anyone have any memories? (good or bad), we'd love to hear from you.
