Look up http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cmhrc/map90.htm

You will see a map showing mines in the Abram area about 1923. Along with Maypole was Wigan Junction and Mains Colliery. The only other one in the immediate area was Albert Colliery which I think was at the bottom of Bickershaw Lane.
