I don't know for definite which colliery he worked at but my great grandad also lived on Warrington Road in Abram and he worked at The Maypole Colliery which apparently was 5 minutes away from Warrington Road.
He worked there until the disaster in 1908 apparently. He was involved with the rescue and was deeply scarred with what he saw down there and never went back down another mine afterwards.

It is likely that my great grandad (John Davies) knew your grandad!

I know its not definite but I hope that this helps.
