I think the house you are refferng to was once part of the sanitorium.The majority of the DeHAAN factory were centered around the old bath-house.Thats funny though as the bath house was a new building compared to the pit.I remember my dad used to come home ,inthe early 50's and have to wash at homecos there were no facilities and as the pit closed in 1959 they didn't get much use out of the baths.
I don't know if JohnRoberts ever lived there ,he used to live across the road from us in Bickershaw and he later bought a farmhouse down crankwood road.
