A bloke called Derek who owns or owned an independent record shop- his life's work, near Victoria Station once told me a story about this single.
It was the day of the IRA Manchester bombing around June 1996 or 7. After an advanced warning, all the shops including Derek's had evacuated and staff and customers congregated at safe distance in one of the squares.
As you'd imagine, the tension waiting for the explosion was painful for Derek and his felloow shopkeepers, then the bomb shook the City centre to it knees. Seconds later they were all still takin' it in with dust and debris flyin' through the air, a customer came up to him and said, You know that Ann Sexton single I was orderin', when will it be in d'ya think Derek?
