Places   (Help with places, streets and buildings in Wigan.)

I left Golborne in 1987, went to Sutton Manor. But I do remember that tunnel you are on about. They were planning it at the time I left. It was to open up the Pigeon House seam which was about 30 yds below the Lower Florida. No wonder it was pulled. I don't know who's daft idea it was to go for that seam. It was just crap. I think somebody thought they would be able to get some cheap coal fairly quickly.
