The three specialist NHS hospitals in Greater Manchester, The Christie, The heart and lung centre at Wythenshawe and the head and stroke unit at Salford Royal provide the best possible care, NHS or private, outside of London.
Unfortunately there are NHS hospitals up and down the country where the standard of care requires improving. In most cases this is neglected because any attempt to improve matters is often side-lined due to shouts of privatisation.
