"Very clever woman"

She is indeed. She was instrumental in bringing the Scott and Bailey series to national televsion and she was also a co writer of The Madame Blanc Mysteries as well as being the executive producer.

In my humble opinion she is a better writer and producer, than an actress. That is not to say she is a bad actress. She is very good. But she is an even better writer and producer. More often than not most of the credit will go to the cast, not the writers, producers, etc.
