Some know how to work the benefit system and are racking it in so it does not pay them to work Others like single parents cannot work because it cost more for child care than they could earn in wages. Zero hours do not help you need a constant wage to live on Many years ago I signed up to an agency and was promised at least 3 months work after being phoned up out of the blue I did an afternoon shift followed by a day shift then told I was not required. Told the agency to shove their job has all the had done was to cost me my dole money for that week Not much later I was offered a job and stayed with the company for 22 years
