Old Codger, I know all about this proposed new road. if someone could tell me how to post a map on here it would help you. I have posted another thread about the road above, "Bolton-Wigan link Road 22 which explains some of the latest proposed route. It diverges from the original 1960's line at Amberswood Common to pass south of Hindley,through Westleigh to the Atherleigh bypass at Howe Bridge. Then along the existing bypass through the island with the A577 and on wards north to the boundary with Bolton. Here it stops as a dead end. The stretch from there onwards was planned to link up with the Chequerbent island and hence the M61. However Bolton Council aren't interested because they are allowing 4000 houses to be built in its way.
