I was working in Dublin around 2001 and we had lots of problems with travellers. They ventured on to our site one Saturday afternoon and the Gardai came and told them in no uncertain terms to move off in two hours or the " The lads from the Castle would be mobilised" This was the Army. Gone in less than two hours. Shortly after they took away a lot of the old rights they had with regards to pitching up anywhere etc. Next thing they are on tramp to Dunlaoghaire to catch the ferry to Anglesey and settle in a new country.
