"TS:'I drove down Rectory Lane, and it is like driving through Winstanley, what was once farmers fields, is now 'completely' built on until yoo get the The Owls.'
A friend of mine lives on Rectory Lane and has lived there for many years, so they have seen many changes. Not only is it disgraceful that the land in that area is being viewed as possible building land, but every little piece of land which comes available seems to be given planning permission.
The biggest issue with this area is, the road cannot handle the amount of traffic. Also, Standish centre junction certainly cannot handle such an amount of traffic. This junction, at certain times of the day, was an absolute nightmare 30 years ago. Many years ago, the council played around with the road system and the junction to try and better the situation, so the council knew all about the problem a long time ago. Now, they are allowing more and more houses to be built in the area and this obviously means, more and more cars.
It will be interesting to see how the council try to solve the traffic problem
"

I could not put it better myself

I have said this before, but I remember riding me motorcycle from the traffic lights at Standish, down Rectory Lane, some 40+ years, and after going past the school which has now been converted into flats, at the end of St Wilfrid's Cemetery, the road changed to no speed limit, or should I say national speed limit, and I used to let me bike rip, and give it some, before braking just before The Owls, because the road there as it goes into the dip and under the bridge, you had to be careful there, because it as always been slippy there, because of water run off from the adjacent fields, and in those days there were no traffic lights on that bridge.

But now its all been built on
