Wigan Newspaper Archives for 1937.
My cousin sent me a copy of a newspaper cutting of his grandmother's obituary which featured in a Wigan newspaper in 1937. There are no details as to which newspaper it was. Are there any online Wigan newspaper archives from that time which I could search to find out which one it was?
Thank you for any help.

I have emailed the library and museum to find out if they have old newspapers in their collection but have not received a reply. Does anyone know if they do have Wigan newspapers from the time? Thanks for your help.

They did have them on microfilm, but they may have been digitised by now.

I received a message from a very helpful Customer Services Assistant at the Museum of Wigan Life who advised me that the newspapers are on microfilm and the one which had my great-grandmother's obituary was the Wigan Examiner 20 February 1937. My grandfather died a few months later, in August 1937 - it must have been a sad year for the family.
It would probably be quite expensive to digitise the Wigan newspaper collection. It would be great if it could be done.

Hello Golden Bear. We are probably related somewhere along the line. My direct relatives from Wigan area are related through Ward and Hodkinson.
