people on the WW forum you have met,
I have met many, some on forum get togethers , some i know from skool, social life and some as customers in my work as a plumber, I never disclose personal details but, Two in particular I've known are 180 degree's in real life from the persona they project on here, It makes me wonder, how many more use WW as a place as an actor uses the stage,

Tom, I have only met one person and this particular person was a regular contributor to "wiganworld" and had a number of friends who were also members. I strongly believe, they have all now left.
By the way, these particular ex-members contributed in a positive way and seeemed to be liked by many (possibly, most) WW members.
When I met this person, they were still a WW member and it was on a totally friendly basis with some identical interests.

Ian you are so right about the positive way members used to post and how it has changed, The general board has become a, snipping ground now and many once good posters have gone or stopped posting,

Unfortunately, many members don't contribute as they may feel that they could receive negative comments or there is no interest in the topic being discussed.
Additionally, many members have left and there are no signs of them returning.
Naturally and sadly, some passed away.

Tom, there were a number of times when I greatly considered leaving and on two occasions I was extremely close to leaving.
At one point in the past, I decided, instead of leaving, to keep out of any discussions which looked like they could lead to an argument, turn nasty, become a battle ground or any other area of negativity.
Anyway, enough of this and let us focus on the topic of "people (WW members or ex-members) we have met".

One of the fellows i knew from skool, was a keen sportsman, At Skool he shone bright and was head and shoulders above every other pupil in his class and year and, was above many in higher years, He was good at athletes and won uncountable trophies for the Skool and after he left education carried on with the athletics and football, he played at amature level for many Ashton clubs and was well known for being the ' george best' on the amature leagues, He progressed even more and played for Wigan Athletics as, semi Pro, As a player he was very competitive and played every game with full commitment to winning, to him winning was very important and if a little shirt tugging was nesseccary, then it was done,
Off the field he was a perfect gentleman, An unassuming factory worker who; worked for a living and paid his taxes and dues,
A frequent poster on the sports board but, his sports posts were in his on field style of, going out to win with no holds barred attitude which, made him unpopular with some because, they did't know the gentle unassuming good guy he really was, he's passed away now too but, he would not object to me writing this about him,
God bless him,

Being a new member J3bo you will not know the best of the older characters that frequented the main boards and the forum was a better place, So much so that people wanted to meet each other to put a face to the name they were communicating with, That spirit has somehow gone now as the gremlins came in and, the general board has become a points scoring board game for some and , a mission to discredit the scores by others, Although I try to stay neutral, I'm guilty of being dragged in from time to time,,

It is yes and its a reflection of life in wigan in General, I got on a bus today from Marus Bridge and I'm going to Bryn to see a mate, the bus is crowded and skool kids are sat in the ' priority seats' , In my yoof the kids were taught to let pensions sit but, today no one moved for me but, I'm not concerned, its only 4 stops and I'm fit for my age but, At the Ben Johnson stop an old lady got on and she was looking for a seat, So I politely asked a yung un to give his seat up for the lady, his head was in his phone and ' cocked a deaf un' luckily a boy next to him stepped up and offered his seat, so good on the lad that offered the seat because my next move would have been, regretful

Tom you should know don't use a bus before 9-30 am unless its the week end so you can use your bus pass and definitely don't use a bus between 2-45 pm and 3-45 pm because they will be full of the little darlings from the schools I can remember when the prefects from the school would monitor the pupils on a bus and report any bad behaviour back to the school.

Yes Peter I know not to use the buses or, even the roads at peak times but, sometimes it unavoidable, We have to accept the fact we are, doddering owd foggies and the yoof don't like us in their way, I'm just glad there are some who see us and treat us like we are their grandparents and act accordingly, God bless those , We can't do anything about the selfish barstewards,,,,,
