Why do computer manufacturers not put a windows back up disc in with their computers, or do they. Last laptop didnt have a disc,and neither has this one.

Your D drive is your recovery .If you wish you could make a copy of this to disc.

Ahh thanks H, Last time I had a problem (a few years ago) with windows I was charged £80 to have it re installed. Just want to avoid this happening again. TA

Had a look at the link mac, now trying to find out how to do a recovery disc for windows 8. I,m touching nothing on the new one till I know what I,m doing. Why oh why cant these manufacturers supply one.

No, but I can tell you how to get a full working O/S for nowt if you want
